Bidhya’s Story: Learning Through Volunteering with the Book Bus

Bidhya, a Bachelor’s student in Education, is training to become a teacher. Alongside her studies, she already works in a primary school, teaching children of various age groups. When she heard about the Book Bus visiting Parsagadhi, she felt an urge to be part of the event. She requested a 4-day leave from her headmaster, explaining her desire to learn from this unique experience and bring some of the fun teaching methods to her own classroom.
At first, Bidhya was shy and hesitant to interact during the Book Bus activities. The bustling energy of the event, filled with children, parents, and volunteers, felt a bit overwhelming. However, as the days passed, she started connecting with fellow volunteers and the Book Bus team. Their enthusiasm and willingness to support each other encouraged her to step out of her comfort zone.

Throughout the four days, Bidhya observed and participated in various activities—from helping children with arts and crafts projects to assisting with interactive storytelling sessions. She was amazed at how learning could be made so engaging and playful. The creative tools and methods she saw during the event sparked ideas on how she could make her own lessons more interesting and effective for her students.
By the end of the event, Bidhya felt more confident and inspired. She had not only gained new skills and techniques to use in her classroom but also formed meaningful connections with other volunteers and staff. For her, volunteering at the Book Bus was more than just an experience; it was a step forward in her journey to becoming a teacher who can make learning both fun and impactful.
