Sachet Manandhar

Executive Director

Sachet is a changemaker with over a decade of experience in running and managing social enterprises. A co-founder of the Karkhana network, he served as the CFO of the social business arm from its inception, shepherding its path to scale and securing a major impact investment. Deeply interested in youth-led change, especially around entrepreneurship, education, and climate issues, he chose to move to Karkhana Samuha, the non-profit arm of the network as Executive Director.

Trained as an Engineer at Kathmandu University School of Engineering, Sachet maintains a deep love for STEM and sees a role for creative engineering in many of the social issues he tackles. In addition to his work Sachet is engaged in various social and professional forums that further his commitment to his change making.

He is also a member of the Global Shapers Alumni Community, an initiative of the World Economic Forum (WEF) and CNIYEF


Fun Fact:
Besides work, I like spending my time playing sports and working out. I have a reputation around Karkhana for being a sharp dresser.

Surya Gyawali

Project Coordinator- Kheldai Sikdai

Surya Gyawali is a stargazer with a deep passion for physics, space, electronics, and teaching. Since 2016, he has been working at Karkhana Samuha, where he promotes hands-on STEAM sessions and designs lessons that inspire learning by doing.

Surya completed his bachelor's degree in Physics and Statistics from Tri-Chandra College. His journey as an educator includes developing engaging educational content, working on curriculum development, conducting pedagogical training sessions, and teaching hands-on skills that blend technology and creativity.


Fun Fact:
In addition to his dedication to science and technology, Surya is a huge Superman fan—a fitting hero for someone captivated by space and its boundless possibilities.

Aakanshya Shrestha

Project Consultant - CSE Project

Currently navigating the development sector of Nepal, I wish to pursue my Master’s studies in Development Management with a focus on Gender or Environment studies (asap). I am enthusiastic to learn the different approaches and tools for communication, and monitoring & evaluation.

And though I am a Newar, I don’t speak nor understand Newa Bhasa.

Bhagwati Singh

Administrative Assistant

My name is Bhagawati Singh, and I work as an Administrative Assistant at Karkhana Samuha. In addition to my administrative role, I am responsible for procurement and inventory management. This involves coordinating with suppliers, managing purchase orders, tracking inventory, and ensuring smooth supply chain operations to support the organization’s needs. I’m passionate about streamlining processes and providing efficient support to teams.


Fun Fact:
I enjoy traveling, & listening to music. I pride myself on my attention to detail and positive attitude.

Mohit Maharjan

Communication Officer

Mohit Maharjan is currently working as a Communication officer at Karkhana Samuha where he focuses on strategic communication, media, and outreach. He is also a versatile content creator specializing in visual media and storytelling.

Mohit also leads communication efforts and NepalkoKala project at the Global Shapers Kathmandu, an initiative of the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers Community.

Mohit's love for travel, biking, and various sports enhances his adventurous spirit and passion for nature.

Janaki Singh

Project Officer - DoRMS

Janaki has more than 15 years of experience in social moments. She has solid experience in the context of the rural area of Sudurpashchim Province working with different projects. She has strong project management skills, staffing function, facilitation and coordination, and networking with community, government, and non-government organizations, especially in the education sector. Janaki Singh is also the master trainer of the ECD program.

Now I am working as a project officer at Karkhana Samuha. I work remotely in Dhangadhi. I look after the Design of Resources and Materials in STEAM (DoRMS) / Kheldai Sikdai project in Dhangadhi.


Fun Fact:
Janaki loves Sudurpashchim deuda song.

Diya Maharjan

Admin and Finance Trainee

Diya Maharjan is an Admin and Finance Trainee at Karkhana Samuha, where she primarily handles clerical tasks, ensuring the smooth management of records and day-to-day operations. She is committed to building her skills while supporting the organization’s administrative and financial efficiency.


Fun Fact:
Diya is known for her exceptional ability to recall every dream she has, often waking up with vivid memories of her nightly adventures.

Pratistha Gautam

Communication Intern

Pratistha Gautam is the Communication Intern at Karkhana Samuha, where she contributes to the organization’s communication and outreach efforts. She is currently completing her Bachelor’s in Business Management while refining her skills in communication and contributing to meaningful initiatives.


Fun Fact:
Pratistha prides herself on being a voracious reader. However, her reading days are left far behind and she hasn’t completed a single book in years.

Saraswati Poudel

Project Coordinator - CSE Project

Saraswati is a dedicated and passionate development worker having experience in different themes like disaster management, environment management, community empowerment, and advocacy campaigns. As a development lover, she is more focused on creating a sustainable future for all especially marginalized communities, and seeks to contribute and inspire positive change.

She enjoys working under pressure.

She loves listening to people’s experiences and getting inspired.

Hasin Shakya

Program Director

I work on the design and implementation of different programs at Karkhana Samuha. I love designing learning experiences and lately have been facilitating discussions on educational policy & planning, which tends to get loud and unruly.

Like most South Asians I chose the path of becoming an engineer before figuring out what I actually want to do with my life.


Fun Fact:
He is experimenting with new techniques that don’t involve negative reinforcement to train dogs.

Nirmala Maharjan

Finance and Operations Lead

Nirmala Maharjan serves as the Finance and Operations Lead at KS, overseeing financial management and operational functions. Additionally, she is focused on developing processes and procedures to ensure smooth and efficient operations at KS.


Fun Fact:
She is a proud mama of three—my two adorable dogs and my wonderful daughter! 🐾👧

Binayak Chiluwal

Finance Assistant

I am Binayak Chiluwal, a Finance Assistant at Karkhana Samuha, where I manage financial records and support budgeting and documentation with precision. I am also the president of the Leo Club, leading community initiatives and fostering collaboration among members.

My roles reflect my dedication to both financial excellence and community service. I strongly believe in the line “ Listen more and talk less” as we have 2 ears for listening and 1 mouth to speak.


Fun Fact:
My Nepali horoscope is तुला (Libra), symbolized by तराजु (scales), which represents balance. This symbolism is a perfect fit for my role in finance, where the core responsibility involves balancing debits and credits.

Mohan Burja Magar

Project Manager - CSE Project

Mohan is a dedicated development professional with over 11 years of experience, focusing on a human rights-based approach and good governance. He is skilled in program implementation, monitoring, resource mobilization, capacity building, and training. He is committed to improving the lives of children and marginalized communities through policy advocacy. Currently, he is serving as the program manager at Karkhana Samuha.

Mohan loves traveling as well as spending time with badminton and Chess.

Prekchhya Shrestha

Program Manager

As a Program Manager at Karkhana Samuha, I’m currently managing the Kheldai Sikdai and US Embassy's BookBus projects. I first got to explore Karkhana back in 2017 as a Maker Mentor, and the experience deepened my passion for creative, hands-on learning.

I also co-founded Katha.akar, where we train girls to create their own digital stories. Outside of work, I’m an alumna of Women Lead Nepal and a former Chevening scholar.

I'm known for giving swimming lessons during Karkhana swim outings!

Bhumi Rana Magar

Project Officer - Book Bus Project

Having worked in the public education sector of Nepal for about 6 years, I strongly believe in the power of education. With an aspiration to advocate for quality education for the children of Nepal, I am working as a Project Officer of the US Embassy’s BookBus Initiative led by Karkhana Samuha.

I am also a proud Alumna of Teach For Nepal and a Social Work graduate.

I am an anime enthusiast and a linguaphile.

Dal Hang Tumbpao

Book Bus Driver

Dal Hang has been the dedicated Book Bus driver since the inception of the U.S. Embassy Nepal’s Book Bus project. With over 10 years of experience, he has expertly navigated the Book Bus across Nepal, from the rugged hills to the plains of the Terai, ensuring books and learning reach communities far and wide. Currently, Dal Hang continues his invaluable work with Karkhana Samuha, contributing to accessible education through his skillful and tireless efforts.


Fun Fact:
Dal Hang can confidently drive on all terrains of Nepal's roads, from winding mountain trails to flat plains.

Niraj Kumar Mishra

Province Coordinator- Madhesh

Niraj Kumar Mishra is a Provincial Project Officer at Karkhana Samuha. He specializes in designing impactful education programs and fostering collaboration. With a passion for inclusive learning, Niraj strives to empower communities and inspire meaningful change.

Niraj enjoys spending time in nature and is known for his unique ability to make learning fun and engaging.

Kripa Dongol

Executive Assistant

Kripa Dangol is an Executive Assistant at Karkhana Samuha. She keeps everything organized, from managing schedules and handling unexpected tasks to reminding the respective departments about upcoming work. Always calm and focused, Kripa’s attention to detail ensures that even the busiest days run smoothly.

Rekha B.K

Office Support

Rekha is the office support at Karkhana Samuha. She keeps the office clean and organized and prepares nourishing food for the team. Her hard work ensures a comfortable and welcoming space for everyone.

Fun Fact:
Rekha knows exactly what the team needs—whether it's a clean space or a hot meal! She can prepare lunch faster than they can decide what to eat, and she always adds a little extra care to every dish.
